I presume there is new news on that front? I haven't heard anything lately. Some of the happier times... I recall Krys writing me personally on a number of occasions following someone on dc-stuff being brusque with me. This is when I was first on the list and she didn't know me from Adam. I was pretty much a nobody at the time. But she took the time to offer encouragement and a kind word when it would have been far simpler to just say nothing. Not long after that, when my "Strangers" article came out, she honored me a great deal by posting my article to the list and saying a lot of nice things about my writing. The kindest words of all were that I had restored her faith in the true ideal of what a hacker is. That in itself spoke volumes as to where her heart was at with respect to hacking and technology. In IRC chats with her, we had many heart-to-heart conversations; ones that I will long remember. And though we discussed many poignant and deeply philosophical things, we always had a moment for light-hearted banter. Whenever she was about to sign off, I always made it a point to (virtually) take her up in my arms, rock her to sleep and then tuck her in. She really took a shine to that. I remember smiling in real life over that as we bid each other good night. Krys is a rare friend. She's the kind of friend that leaves one with a sense of honor mixed with bewilderment; honor from the privilege of having her as a friend, and bewilderment sired from wondering what one possessed that earned her unique friendship. - -Jay ( ______ )) .--- "There's always time for a good cup of coffee" ---. >===<--.
